Q) What is hypnosis?
A) Hypnosis is a state of altered awareness during which our subconscious mind becomes open and receptive to suggestions. Throughout the day, we naturally, drift in and out of different levels of awareness, obtaining information on a conscious level.
Q) What is the typical session like?
A) The client spends approximately an hour with me. We talk about their needs and then I have them sit or lie down in a comfortable position. I make positive suggestions that reinforce healthy behaviors that the client desires. The hypnosis lasts for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Q) If a person falls asleep while under hypnosis does it still work?
A) Yes. Some people will go into deep relaxation. Because hypnosis works on a subconscious level, you can still hear what is being said and the technique will be effective.
Q) Can you help someone lose weight?
A) Yes. Sometimes, being overweight is the result of over-eating combined with insufficient activity. Hypnosis is uniquely appropriate for getting your eating habits under control and for increasing your motivation to get more exercise. Hypnosis is also used so that people can control their emotions and make better choices.
Q) Is hypnosis safe?
A) Yes. I am only using the information that you have given me. All of the information is very positive.
Q) Will I be aware of what is going on?
A) Yes, you will be.
Q) Can I be hypnotized against my will?
A) No. Hypnosis is a cooperation between the client and the Hypnotherapist. You always retain the ability to resist being hypnotized if you don’t want to be.
Q) I went to a Hypnotherapist before and it didn't work. Am I not able to be hypnotized?
A) The most common reason for failure is lack of rapport. You may find a different therapist that works well with you. If we are not able to develop rapport on our initial appointment, you may have your money back.
Q) Can we have a session over-the-phone?
A) Yes. Sessions over the phone can be just as effective as in person sessions. Please make yourself comfortable prior to the call and use headphones or a speakerphone for the hypnosis portion of the session.
