Quite often at work or at home we experience stress or upset and may
not know how to handle it at that moment. Someone or something angers
us on the spot and we make rash decisions.
After working with clients in stress management and weight management
for over seven years, I have learned a great method that teaches people how to handle stress.
Step 1) Think of what is upsetting you.
Step 2) Clench your fists as you think the number 3 and keep breathing
(do not hold your breath) as you focus on the upset
Step 3) Think the number 2 as you take a deeeeep breath in and hold the breath.
Step 4) Exhale slowly as you think the number 1. Release the tension
in your fists
Step 5) Do this method three times in a row.
I will guarantee you that after the 2nd time you are feeling more
relaxed and after the 3rd time you are even more relaxed. This method
will help you to take a break from any unhealthy choices that you are
about to make. This is an easy method that you can do in a business
meeting, small group or large group and no one needs to know you are
doing it. I have had clients who clench their toes while keeping a
smile on their face.

Strarting your day
Sometimes our day can start off poorly, like getting a flat tire or forgetting our briefcase. As long as you focus on how poor your day is going, you are going to keep having a bad day. Even if things don't start out right, think about all of the great things that have happened.
I have found that the best way to start my day is by praying, meditating and exercerising. By starting my day in this manner I become more focused and I get a lot more done. I strart with special prayers that I have created for myself and then I ask God for guidance as I go through my day. When I exercise, like going for a walk or practicing yoga, it helps me to release any worries or stress so that I can get on with my day in a fresh, focused manner. I encourage everyone to do something in the morning that will get their day started. Write in your journal; go for a walk; stretch; listen to an encouraging motivational CD. Start your day the right way and your day will go the way you want it to.
